GCET Syllabus / GCET Test Pattern
GCET is a Gujarat state level entrance exam for government MBA and MCA and self financed MBA Colleges and MCA Colleges based and affiliated to GTU (Gujarat Technological University). The test pattern and syllabus of GCET MBA 2012 and GCET MCA 2012 is same as other national level management entrance exam like CAT, MAT etc.
GCET MBA and GCET MCA examination tests students on various parameters and topics. GCET MBA 2012 and GCET MCA 2012 will be a computer based entrance exam but the overall structure and syllabus will remain the same as taken in GCET 2010. It mostly consists of data interpretation, quantitative ability and English multiple type questions.
The GCET MBA and GCET MCA will include following topics:
Quantitative Aptitude:
- Time-Speed-Distance, Work and time visit tutorial
- Number system: HCF, LCM, Geometric Progression, Arithmetic progression, Arithmetic mean, Geometric mean, Harmonic mean, Median, Mode, Number Base System, BODMAS visit tutorial
- Geometry, (Lines, angles, Triangles, Spheres, Rectangles, Cube, Cone etc) visit tutorial
- Averages, Percentages, Partnership visit tutorial
- Menstruation, Allegation & Mixtures, Work, Pipes and Cisterns visit tutorial
- Simple Interest & Compound Interest
- Set Theory, Venn diagram visit tutorial
- Ratios and Proportion, Ratios, Percentages, In-equations visit tutorial
- Instalment Payments, Partnership, Clocks
- Probability, Permutations & Combination visit tutorial
- Quadratic and linear equations visit tutorial

Reasoning:
- Critical reasoning, Visual reasoning, Assumption-Premise-Conclusion, Assertion and reasons, Statements and assumptions, identifying valid inferences , identifying Strong arguments and Weak arguments
- Statements and conclusions, Cause and Effect, Identifying Probably true, Probably false, definitely true, definitely false kind of statement, Linear arrangements, Matrix arrangements.
- Graphs can be Column graphs, Bar Graphs, Line charts, Pie Chart, Graphs representing Area, Venn diagram, etc.
- Symbol Based problems, Coding and decoding , Sequencing , identifying next number in series, Puzzles, Syllogisms, Functions, Family tree - identifying relationship among group of people and etc.
English:
- Comprehension of passage
- Fill In the Blanks, Jumbled paragraphs with 4 or 5 sentences, Jumbled paragraphs (6 sentences with first and last fixed), Contextual usage, Analogies, Antonyms, etc...
- Sentence Correction, Foreign language words used in English, Sentence completion, odd man out, idioms, one word substitution, Different usage of same word etc.
General Knowledge:
- Current Affairs, Business, Punch line of companies, Top officials of big companies
- Major corporate events, Books and authors, Science, History, Geography
- International, organisations, Famous award and prizes, World Records, Sports
- Finance, Automobiles, Social issues, Entertainment, Politics, Important quotations etc.
Test Pattern of Examination:
Section 1:
Total Questions: 80
Total Time: 64 Minutes
English Language Skill: 20
Quantitative Aptitude: 30
Analytic and Logical Reasoning: 30
Section 2:
Total Questions: 20
Total Time: 16 Minutes
General Knowledge: 20
NOTE: For a right answer, candidate will get 4 Marks and for a wrong answer 1 Mar k will be deducted from the total marks.

NOTE: For a right answer, candidate will get 4 Marks and for a wrong answer 1 Mark will be deducted from the total marks.
These questions will be arranged randomly. The weightage is four marks for correct answer and negative one mark for wrong answer.Student will immediately get the score at the end of the test.
Candidates seeking admission for MBA and MCA both courses will have to take only one test of 120 questions of 96 minutes. Those questions will be 10 additional from Quantitative aptitude and another 10 from Analytic and Logical reasoning over and above MBA questions. Candidates can give two attempts for GCET 2012 and best of one result is considered from two attempts. There is only one attempt compulsory from two attempts.
